Italian PM: Putin should be prosecuted for war crimes in Ukraine
The russian federation's war crimes in Ukraine must be punished, and the Russian president must be brought to justice for killing civilians.
The Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi stated this during a speech in Turin, Reuters reports.
"War crimes must be punished. President Putin and the Russian government must be held accountable for their actions," Draghi said.
He called for an independent investigation into the deaths of Ukrainians in Bucha and assured that Italy adheres to the same position as the European Union on russia's military invasion in Ukraine and supports a new package of sanctions against russia, presented by the European Commission earlier Tuesday.
Earlier, Italy's foreign ministry declared 30 russian diplomats non grata and ordered them to leave the country.
