First in the EU: Lithuania ceased gas import from russia
Lithuania has completely stopped importing gas from russia since the beginning of April, which makes Vilnius becoming the first EU capital to do so.
According to LRT, this was stated by the Ministry of Energy of Lithuania.
The agency said that since the beginning of April, the Lithuanian gas transmission system has not imported gas from russia. This is confirmed by the data of the operator Amber Grid: according to them, on April 2, imports of Russian gas to Lithuania through the interconnector with Belarus were zero.
Now all of Lithuania's gas needs are met through imports through the LNG terminal in Klaipeda. According to calculations, in the future, this should be enough.
