"Officially and quickly": President of European Parliament promised Ukraine recognition as a candidate for EU membership
The President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola stated that Ukraine is recognized as a candidate for membership in the European Union and will be assisted in its reconstruction.
This was stated in a statement by the President at a joint briefing with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk.
"We recognize Ukraine as a candidate for EU membership officially and quickly. I promise you this from the European Parliament," Metsola said.
According to her, Russia's encroachment on Ukraine, its freedom and territory is an encroachment on the whole of Europe and the current order in the world.
She also assured us that European partners would make every effort to rebuild Ukrainian cities and villages after the war.
"I want to say from all European nations that make up the family of the European Parliament that we are impressed, enthusiastic, inspired by the courage of the Ukrainian people, the courage of the Ukrainian army. Parliamentary democracy has gained a second wind in Europe thanks to the feat of the Ukrainian people and the actions of the Ukrainian parliament," Metsola stressed.
