The German manufacturer of trucks and buses MAN said that its plants in Munich and Krakow, Poland, were shut down due to the end of the supply of electrical wires produced at Ukrainian plants

Interfax-Ukraine reported this with reference to the company's report.

It was also noted that production at three other MAN plants was reduced, in particular at the Nuremberg engine plant.

"Electrical wire suppliers cannot produce it at Ukrainian plants or can produce it but in very limited quantities. As a result, we could lose production for several weeks, which will drastically reduce output in the second quarter," the statement said.

A company owned by the Volkswagen Group has said it has been forced to send 11,000 employees on unpaid leave because of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

The company said it has already begun looking for additional sources of wiring for trucks in other countries.

"However, it will take several months," said MAN CEO Alexander Vlaskamp.

The company notes that its employees will be transferred to a reduced working day scheme, under which MAN compensates them for 80% of lost income at the expense of both own and public funds.

Problems with Ukrainian suppliers have previously led to disruptions in Volkswagen and BMW.
