Scholz: Germany is ready to act as a guarantor of Ukraine's security
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Germany was ready to be a guarantor of Ukraine's security
Government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit stated this, Reuters reports.
According to a government spokesperson, Scholz said in a telephone conversation with Zelenskyy that he was "generally ready" to take part in the role.
Hebestreit also stressed that he didn't want to speculate on whether the role of guarantor of security would also include a military component.
As Rubryka reported, another round of talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations took place in Turkey on March 29.
During it, Ukraine proposed its format of a security guarantee agreement for Ukraine.
Among the guarantors of security, Ukraine sees Britain, China, the United States, France, Turkey, Germany, Canada, Poland, and Israel. Negotiations are underway with them.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine didn't want to repeat the mistake of the Budapest Memorandum on security guarantees.
