Despite promises to withdraw troops, Russian troops shelled Chernihiv and Nizhyn at night, Head of Administration reports

Chernihiv was shelled all night by invaders, Nizhyn was hit by an airstrike

This was announced by the Head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration Viacheslav Chaus, Rubryka reports.

According to the leader, the enemy demonstrated a "decrease in activity" in the Chernihiv region by striking Nizhyn, including by air, and spent the entire night hitting Chernihiv.

"Yesterday, the Russians publicly stated that they were reducing their offensive actions and activity in the Chernihiv and Kyiv areas. Do we believe in that? Of course not.

And we are ready for any development, and meeting the enemy in the Chernihiv region, too," Chaus stressed.

"Civil infrastructure facilities were destroyed again, libraries, shopping malls, and other facilities were destroyed, a lot of houses were destroyed. Because in fact, the enemy was wandering around Chernihiv all night," the leader wrote.

Chaus said that all settlements in the Chernihiv region will be restored, and they will be "even better."

To recap, immediately after the talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul on March 29, Medinskyi said that the Russian army would "dramatically reduce" the offensive in the Chernihiv and Kyiv areas.

Medinskyi then explained that the de-escalation of hostilities by Russian troops in Kyiv and Chernihiv did not mean a ceasefire.
