World's leading lawyers and Microsoft will help Ukraine deal with Russia's crimes

The world's leading human rights experts have joined the International Legal Working Group on Responsibility for International Crimes Committed in Ukraine.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

It is reported that the working group (legal Task Force) will support Ukraine in providing justice for victims of international crimes committed by Russia in our country.

It includes the world's leading lawyers: Amal Clooney, Royal Adviser Richard Hermer, Royal Adviser Tim Otti, Philippa Webb, Baroness Helena Kennedy, head of the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute, and Lord Neuberger, former Chief Justice.

The working group will also include legal experts from Covington & Burling LLP in the United States, led by Nihil Gore, the French firm Sygna Partners, led by Luke Vidal, and Withers, led by Emma Lindsay. Each of them already represents the interests of Ukraine, including in the case of Covington and Sygna, in the UN International Court of Justice.

The working group will also be supported by leading scholars in the field of international humanitarian law, including Professor Marko Milanovich (University of Nottingham) and Professor Andrew Klepem (Geneva Academic Institute), as well as the Center for International Governance and Dispute Resolution at the Royal Foundation in London, Clooney's Fund For Justice and the Institute of Human Rights of the International Bar Association.

It is stated that all members of the working group, as well as lawyers and scholars who will provide support, will perform their work free of charge.

Its remit will include providing recommendations for accountability, including through the United Nations and regional organizations.

It will also advise and provide potential representation in civil and criminal matters, including those covered by the laws of universal jurisdiction, to ensure prosecution and reparations in national jurisdictions.

In addition, the working group will provide strategic guidance on Ukraine's cooperation with the International Criminal Court.

Microsoft will be the technology partner of the working group. It will provide free technical assistance to ensure the protection, analysis, and exchange of evidence of international crimes with the relevant authorities.

According to the head of the Prosecutor's Office, Iryna Venediktova, the help, and recommendations of this group will be an invaluable contribution to the process of providing justice for Ukrainian victims and rebuilding our state.
