About 160 thousand people remain in Mariupol – Boichenko

More than 100,000 people remain in Russian-occupied Mariupol.

This was reported by the city council with reference to Mayor Vadym Boichenko.

According to the press service of the Mariupol City Council, Boichenko said that a complete evacuation from the city was necessary.

"Quite a lot of people are in Mariupol, more than 100 thousand people. About 160,000, according to famous people living in Mariupol (in conditions – ed.), in which it is impossible to live, because there is nothing at all: neither light nor heat," said Boichenko.

The Mariupol City Council also made the contacts of Ukrainian embassies in neighboring countries public for those city residents who were forcibly deported to Russia. The city authorities called on the deported citizens to report their data to the nearest embassy in Ukraine.

According to city officials, at least 2,300 people have died in the city, which has been blocked by Russian troops, but many may be trapped. The city lacks water (in early March, people melted snow, now there is none), food, no utilities and communications.
