Denisova: more than ten cities don’t have access to drinking water

As a result of the actions of the Russian occupiers, residents of more than ten Ukrainian cities partially or completely do not have access to drinking water

The ombudswoman Liudmila Denisova reported about it.

According to her, residents of Mariupol, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Okhtyrka, Izium, Makariv, Polohy, Vasylivka, Orikhiv, Huliaipil, Chernihiv, Trostianets, and several other Ukrainian settlements do not have full or partial access to drinking water.

According to Denisova, millions of Ukrainians suffer from this.

"In the Donetsk region alone, more than 200,000 people do not have access to drinking water.

As the scale of the clashes increases, there is a threat that in the coming weeks the Donetsk region may be completely disconnected from the water supply," the ombudswoman said.

Denisova also stressed that Russia's actions violated the Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of August 12, 1949 (Fourth Geneva Convention).

According to it, the occupying state is obliged to use all available means to provide the civilian population with all necessary resources, including water.

"I call on the international community to increase sanctions pressure on Russia to stop military aggression against Ukraine and the torture of civilians in our country," Denisova said.

Conversion of contaminated water into drinking water
