Russia's combat power in Ukraine has fallen below 90% - USA
For the first time since the beginning of the war, Russia's combat power in Ukraine has fallen below 90% of its level before the invasion.
This was stated by a senior representative of the US Department of Defense, The Guardian reports.
The United States estimates that Russia gathered more than 150,000 troops around Ukraine before the February 24 invasion, along with enough aircraft, artillery, tanks, and other fire equipment to carry out a full-scale attack.
"We estimate Russia's combat power at just under 90 percent," the US official said.
"They spend a lot, but they have also accumulated an awful lot since early autumn. For the first time, they may be at just under 90 percent," he said.
The Defense Department spokesperson also criticized Russia's ability to seize Ukraine, describing morale problems, command problems, dependence on conscripts, and halted advances in Kyiv.
