Occupiers captured Beryslav mayor and local activist - Kherson regional state administration
The occupiers of the aggressor country Russia kidnapped the mayor of Beryslav Oleksandr Shapovalov.
The head of the Kherson military administration, Hennadii Lahuta, reported about it on March 21.
According to him, the mayor and a local activist were abducted at about 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19. They have been held captive by Russian invaders for three days. However, their whereabouts are unknown. Hennadii Lahuta suggests that it may be Nova Kakhovka.
"Yesterday, Oleksandr Shapovalov was allowed to call his family and calm them down. The man has heart problems, had a hard time when he had contracted the coronavirus," the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration said.
Shapovalov was elected mayor of Beryslav in 2006. He still holds this position.
