German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock expects several million more refugees from the war in Ukraine in the EU.

Baerbock stated this on the sidelines of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Bild reports.

"I think we need to be very aware that more than three million people have already fled, but many, many millions more will flee," she said.

According to her estimates, the EU needs to accept about 8 million Ukrainian refugees.

Just two weeks ago, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said 5 million refugees from Ukraine were expected.

According to the United Nations, 10 million people have fled their homes in Ukraine because of Russia's devastating war, either internally or as refugees abroad.
