Occupiers dropped a heavy bomb on Mariupol Drama Theater, where refugees were hiding
Occupying troops dropped a heavy bomb on the Mariupol Drama Theater, where refugees who lost their homes were hiding.
This was reported by the Mariupol City Council, the Azov Regiment, Batkivshchyna People's Deputy, and ex-head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Serhii Taruta on Facebook.
"Russian fascist troops purposefully and cynically destroyed the Drama Theater in the heart of Mariupol. The plane dropped a bomb on a building where hundreds of peaceful Mariupol residents were hiding. It is still impossible to estimate the scale of this horrific and inhumane act. The central part of the Drama Theater was destroyed, and the entrance to the bomb shelter in the building was destroyed by debris "the City Council said.
"According to eyewitnesses, Russian occupation forces dropped a heavy bomb on the Mariupol Drama Theater. The Drama Theater, the city's cultural center, has been identified as a gathering place for refugees who have lost their homes and livelihoods. The occupiers could not help but know this, because it was an officially determined place. It is known that almost a thousand civilians from Mariupol were hiding in the theater. The number of dead and wounded is currently unknown. Many Mariupol residents hid in the theater with small children. This theater was a shelter in which the inhabitants of besieged Mariupol escaped from continuous shelling," Azov said.
"It is unknown how many people died under the rubble. There are fierce battles now. No one can get to the rubble. We don't know if they survived. And the worst thing is that we can't get them out from under the rubble. Many Mariupol residents hid in the theater with small children! It is also covered, there are also people, children!" Taruta said.
