The United States imposed sanctions on 15 representatives and 1 legal entity of Russian and Belarusian regimes

The US Treasury Department and the State Department on Tuesday announced sanctions against at least 15 individuals and one legal entity involved in gross human rights abuses in Russia and Belarus.

This is stated in official announcements published on US government websites.

"Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated four individuals and one entity pursuant to the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012 (the Russia Magnitsky Act)," the US Treasury Department said on Tuesday.

In particular, new restrictions have been imposed against Moscow District Court Judge Natalia Mushnikova. It helped to avoid legal liability for the ill-treatment and death of Sergei Magnitsky.

Sanctions have also been imposed on the Kurchaloyev Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic of Russia, as well as two of its employees who acted on behalf of the Chechen government when detaining and torturing Oyub Titiev, a well-known human rights activist.

In addition, the US Treasury Department has imposed repeated sanctions against the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, and his wife Galina. The Belarusian dictator is accused of involvement in gross human rights violations and widespread corruption.

In addition, on Tuesday, the US State Department announced the introduction of restrictions against 11 high-ranking representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry, including the commander of the Russian National Guard Viktor Zolotov. Among other things, the Russian National Guard was involved in attempts to suppress dissent in the occupied territories of Ukraine, the State Department said.

According to the document, the United States will continue to make every effort to bring to justice all those who support, allow and commit human rights violations in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and other countries.
