Russian forces have seized the eastern outskirts of Mariupol, Donetsk region, while the city continues to be under siege.
"The enemy has captured the eastern outskirts of Mariupol," the statement said.
According to the statement, the major efforts of the enemy are focused on capturing not only Mariupol but also Severodonetsk, the regional center of the Luhansk region.
In turn, the head of the Donetsk military-civil administration Pavlo Kyrylenko said that Mariupol continues to be surrounded by Russian troops.
He stressed that the humanitarian catastrophe in the city as of March 12 had not been resolved.
