The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson fears that Russia may use chemical weapons in Ukraine.

Johnson said this in an interview with Sky News.

"What you hear about chemical weapons is straight from their script," he said.

"They start saying that there are chemical weapons kept by their opponents or the Americans, so when they deploy chemical weapons themselves, and I'm afraid they can, they have a kind of fake, ready to go," Boris Johnson said.

"You've seen it in Syria. You've seen it even in the UK. It's what they're already doing. It's a cynical, barbaric government," he added.

Johnson also said that the only way to end the war in Ukraine is if the Russian president realizes that he has made a "catastrophic mistake."

Note

Earlier, Russia claimed that Ukraine kept chemical weapons and planned to use them.

Moscow has also said it has unveiled a US military biological weapons program in Ukraine that includes deadly pathogens such as plague and anthrax.

The US official dismissed the statement as "absurd propaganda" and accused Russia of seeking further reasons for the war.

But on Thursday, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Russia could use chemical weapons in Ukraine or create a "fake flag" operation, blaming Ukraine.
