EBRD allocating €2 billion to help Ukraine and host countries
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has agreed to provide €2 billion in assistance to Ukraine and host countries.
The EBRD press service reported this.
Thus, 2 billion euros will be spent on maintaining sustainability and life in Ukraine and host countries. Priorities include trade finance, emergency liquidity, energy security, and municipal services.
"The bank promises to do everything possible to help rebuild the country as soon as conditions allow," the EBRD said.
Funding can be spent to support Ukrainian companies, for example, through deferred loans, liquidity support, and trade finance. If possible, businesses will be provided with relocation assistance so that their work can continue.
In countries where refugees from Ukraine are accepted, the municipal authorities face enormous problems in managing the influx of people, so the aid package will be targeted at them as well.
This package was approved today by the Bank's Board of Directors and is the first round of support.
There is also a reconstruction program that will begin when the situation in the country allows. We are talking about the restoration of livelihoods and business, critical infrastructure, services.
Such a program involves cooperation with international partners, including the EU and the US, as well as bilateral donors and other international financial institutions. She expects increased investment in energy security, as well as accelerated decarbonization efforts.
