In the Netherlands, 106 million euros raised in one day for the victims of the war in Ukraine

In the Netherlands, Giro555 raised €106 million in one day to raise funds for the victims of the war in Ukraine.

This was reported by NOS.

The action was initiated by 11 humanitarian organizations on Monday. The money promises to go to housing, medical care, and water for war victims.

The project was implemented through 10 radio stations and social media from 6 am to 9 pm. In particular, listeners could order their favorite song in exchange for a contribution, and advertising profits were also donated to the campaign fund. The contribution could be made through the website or by calling a special number.

The Minister of Trade of the Netherlands announced that the government would provide an additional 15 million euros as part of the campaign, besides the previously promised 24.5 million.

The campaign is already called the third most successful in the initiative's history. Fundraising for the victims of the large-scale tsunami in Thailand and neighboring countries in 2004 and the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 remain in the first place.
