Following the United States, Britain gave up Russian oil

The British government intends to stop importing Russian oil by the end of 2022

The relevant decision was made on March 8.

It is noted that this transition period will give the market, businesses, and supply chains more than enough time to replace Russian imports, which account for 8% of demand in Britain.

"Britain is less dependent on Russian fossil fuels than many European countries. But Russian supplies still account for 8% of total imports to Britain, and 18% of British diesel comes from Russia," the statement said.

London has decided to take such a step together with the United States, which has announced a total ban on imports of Russian oil, gas, and coal.

The EP also took steps today to reduce the continent's dependence on Russian gas, saying it wants to cut demand by two-thirds by the end of the year.

To recap, the European Union depends on Russia for about 40% of natural gas supplies. Russia also supplies about 27% of the bloc's oil from 27 countries and 46% of coal.
