Tomorrow European Commission will present proposals for a quick withdrawal from Russian gas and oil
On Tuesday, March 8, the European Commission will present proposals on how to quickly get rid of the EU's dependence on Russian fossil fuels.
This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
"Tomorrow the EU commission will table proposals on how to quickly get rid of our dependency on Russian fossil fuels," she wrote on Twitter.
According to her, this means:
- Diversification of suppliers, transition to LNG (liquefied natural gas) and pipeline gas;
- Replenish EU forces by investing in renewable energy;
- Improving energy efficiency.
Von der Leyen clarified that the EU would also focus on protecting consumers and businesses, including the most vulnerable.
"And also to prepare more structurally for the massive increase in renewable energy sources in our electricity market," said the President of the European Commission.
