Ukraine v. Russia: The Hague tribunal may rule on genocide this week

The UN International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands, may decide this week to impose interim measures due to Russia's aggression in the Ukraine v. Russia lawsuit on genocide.

"We ask that this happen in the coming days," Oksana Zolotariova, Coagent of Ukraine at a hearing before the International Court of Justice told after a court hearing.

She also stressed that "this decision will be key to further consolidating the support of our partners and other international organizations because all countries of the world understand that the decision of the UN International Court of Justice, the decision of justice must be implemented."

She also reminded that Russia refused to participate in the hearings when Ukraine demanded the release of Ukrainian sailors but later complied with the court's decision.

"I want to remind you of a story when the Russian Federation refused to participate in a meeting on our sailors, but it wasn't long before it released them," Zolotariova said.
