"Cities-Heroes" and indomitable heads of regional state administrations and mayors: whom and how Zelenskyy awarded

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded six cities with the City-Hero award.

This was reported by the official website of the President of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy established the honorary award the Hero City of Ukraine and awarded this status to Volnovakha, Hostomel, Mariupol, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv.

"To celebrate the feat, mass heroism, and resilience of citizens who defended their cities during the repulse of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine," said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy also awarded orders to the heads of regional administrations and mayors, who excelled in the defense of their communities.

The Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the Third Degree is awarded to:

  • Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
  • Head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Vitalii Kim.
  • Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko.
  • Head of Luhansk Regional State Administration Serhii Haidai
  • Head of Chernihiv Regional State Administration Viacheslav  Chaus.
  • Head of Sumy Regional State Administration Dmytro Zhyvytskyi.

This order is intended to reward the citizens of Ukraine for special services in the protection of state sovereignty, territorial integrity, strengthening the defense and security of Ukraine.

The Order of Courage ("For Courage") is awarded to:

  • Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov.
  • Mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Senkevich.
  • Mayor of Chernihiv Vladislav Atroshenko.
  • Mayor of Sumy Oleksandr Lysenko.
  • Mayor of Kherson Ihor Kolykhaev.
  • Mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov.
  • Mayor of Nova Kakhovka Volodymyr Kovalenko.

This order is awarded to honor servicemen, law enforcement officers, and others for personal courage and heroism shown in rescuing people, material values ​​in the aftermath of emergencies, in the fight against crime, and in other cases in the performance of military, service, civilian duty in life-threatening conditions.
