Mariupol evacuation blocked: invaders opened fire
The Russian side violated the agreement on the "green corridor" from Mariupol and began shelling. The evacuation is postponed
The Mariupol City Council announced this, Rubryka reports.
"Because the Russian side doesn't observe the ceasefire and has continued to shell both Mariupol and its environs, the evacuation of the population is postponed for security reasons.
We ask all Mariupol residents to disperse and go to places of refuge. More information about the evacuation will be posted soon.
Negotiations are currently underway with the Russian Federation to establish a ceasefire and ensure a secure humanitarian corridor.
The police will also inform the residents of the city with the help of loudspeakers," the statement reads.
As Rubryka reported, according to the Coordination Center headed by the head of the Donetsk Regional Civil-Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko, a ceasefire should be established today, March 5, from 9:00 to 16:00.
The evacuation of civilians was to begin at 11:00.
The route Mariupol – Mykilske – Rozivka – Polohy – Orikhiv – Zaporizhzhia was chosen as a humanitarian "green" corridor.
