Lukashenko signs a decision to amend Belarus' Constitution
On Friday, March 4, self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decision in a republican referendum to amend the Constitution of Belarus.
This was reported by Belsat.
The new Constitution will enter into force on March 15.
Belarusians "voted" for amendments to the constitution in a referendum on February 27.
To recap, in Belarus, 65.16% of citizens polled in a referendum voted in favor of amendments to the Constitution.
Among the main amendments to the constitution voted for in the referendum:
Self-proclaimed President Aleksandr Lukashenko will be able to run for two more terms,
Belarus will lift its neutrality and nuclear-free status,
The country's president will not be held accountable for crimes committed in office.
