Britain wants to place refugees from Ukraine in confiscated mansions of Russian oligarchs
British Deputy Prime Minister Dominique Raab says he supports confiscation of Russian oligarchs' mansions to house Ukrainian refugees
According to the EP, The Times reports.
When asked on LBC whether Britain could seize property belonging to Russia's elite as punishment for Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Raab said: "Yes, if we have the evidence and the legal basis, we will."
When asked if he would support the use of this property to house Ukrainian refugees, as Cabinet member Michael Gove called, Raab said: "Yes, absolutely."
The British government has also been criticized for not sanctioning Chelsea owner and Putin ally Roman Abramovich.
At this time, Abramovich put up for sale not only his club Chelsea but also luxury real estate, which he owns in London.
The day before, Britain imposed sanctions on two other Russian oligarchs, Alisher Usmanov and Igor Shuvalov.
