Macron had a telephone conversation with Putin and then with Zelenskyy
On Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and then called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This was reported in the Elysee Palace, the EP reports.
The conversation with the Russian president lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes. It was the third conversation between the presidents of Russia and France since the Russian army invaded Ukraine on February 24.
In an address to the French the day before, Macron said he wanted to continue to maintain contact with the Kremlin and thus try to stop the war.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has suggested that in the war against Ukraine, Russia will continue to try to lay siege after failing to realize its intentions of a lightning offensive.
