The Hague tribunal begins investigation of Russian war crimes in Ukraine: data on crimes passed by 39 countries

The Hague tribunal begins an investigation of Russian war crimes in Ukraine.

This was announced by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan. He stated that, following a request from 39 States Parties, his office was launching an investigation:

"These appeals allow my office to launch an investigation into the situation in Ukraine on November 21, 2013, thus covering any previous and current allegations of war crimes, crimes against humanity, or genocide committed in any part of Ukraine by any person."

Karim Khan called on all those involved in hostilities in Ukraine to strictly adhere to the current norms of international humanitarian law.

"No person in the situation in Ukraine has a license to commit crimes under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court," he said.
