Hundreds of volunteer fighter from Sweden going to Ukraine
400 volunteers from Sweden are preparing to leave for Ukraine to defend the country "from Russian invaders and to protect global security."
According to the local newspaper Teela, the Embassy of Ukraine in Sweden is currently searching, and the information is being passed to the Swedish coordinator Filip Brennvall.
"About 400 have heard about it. Some are leaving on Thursday and then others. I don't want to go into more detail for their safety," said Brennwall, co-ordinator between the embassy and the brigade.
The Swedes will fly to Krakow, Poland, and then are expected to travel to Ukraine.
"They will be employed in the Ukrainian army and will sign a contract with it. This is not a mercenary job," the article reads.
According to Philip Brennval, the volunteers are checked before they are approved to join the brigade.
"They can take personality tests and a political test. And then we check that they are not involved in violating the law.
All religions and political views are welcome unless they are not extreme. We also check them out on Facebook and Twitter. As we can see now, a lot of ordinary guys are coming," he said.
