Zelenskyy names a precondition for talks on a truce with Russia

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy named a condition for Russian occupiers before ceasefire talks

He stated this during an interview with the international news agency Reuters.

"We need to at least stop bombing people, just stop bombing and then sit down at the negotiating table."

The President stressed that the Russian occupiers are currently bombing civilian objects in major cities of Ukraine.

This is done so that the Russian delegation has the opportunity to put pressure on Ukraine in the negotiations, instead of rational and balanced discussions on the armistice.

The President also thanked the governments of NATO member countries for providing armed and financial support.

However, he expressed regret that Western governments had not imposed precautionary sanctions against Russia before the invasion.

According to Zelenskyy, if the West had imposed a package of severe sanctions before the Russian invasion into Ukraine began, it is likely that the Russian army's invasion of Ukraine would not have taken place.

Zelenskyy warned Western governments that they were defending themselves by helping Ukraine because if the Russian occupiers won, they would have to deal with the threat of Russian invasion on their own.

According to the President, it would still be better, apart from the military support that Ukraine needs, for NATO to close the skies over Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, Biden personally assured him in a telephone conversation that NATO's closure of the skies over Ukraine was "not on time."

"This is not the involvement of NATO countries in the war. To be honest, everyone has been involved in the war for a long time, and certainly not Ukraine, Russia was involved, in this case. A full-scale war is underway. Everyone believes it will pass," the head of state stated.
