Spanish Foreign Minister suggests that the EU close its ports to ships from Russia
Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez has called on the EU to close its ports to Russian ships due to the war it has waged against Ukraine.
The Minister noted that his proposal had already been supported by colleagues from other countries.
He hopes that such a decision will be reached in the near future.
"Yesterday I proposed on behalf of Spain, and there were many countries that supported me, and I hope that in the coming days this measure will be taken to close European ports in addition to closing the skies of Europe for Russian flights," said the minister.
The Spanish Foreign Minister believes that the conflict over Ukraine may be long.
He also stressed that the Spanish authorities had changed the rules for their citizens who are on Russian territory.
The Spaniards are advised to leave Russia as soon as possible. And to abandon the planned trips to the aggressor state altogether.
