EU will close airspace for Russia, - the head of the European Commission

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said during a briefing that the European Union will close the sky for Russia because of the country's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

She said this during a briefing and on Twitter.

"First, we are shutting down the EU airspace for Russian-owned, Russian registered or Russian-controlled aircraft. They won't be able to land in, take off or overfly the territory of the EU. Including the private jets of oligarchs

Second, we will ban the Kremlin's media machine in the EU. The state-owned Russia Today and Sputnik, and their subsidiaries, will no longer be able to spread their lies to justify Putin's war. We are developing tools to ban their toxic and harmful disinformation in Europe.

Thirdly, we will hit another aggressor in this war, the Lukashenka regime, with a new package of sanctions, hit their most important sectors. All these activities complement the powerful package presented yesterday, agreed by international partners," she wrote.

She also noted Zelensky's leadership.

"His his bravery and the resilience of the Ukrainian people are an inspiration to us all. We welcome with open arms those who have to flee from Putin's bombs. We support our Eastern Member States in hosting and taking care of these refugees," she said.
