Enemy tanks attempted a rush but were stopped - The mayor of Mariupol

During the night and early morning, an attack was attempted on Mariupol from Donetsk but was repelled. 

The mayor of the city Vadym Boychenko reported the news in the comment to "Ukrainian Pravda".

According to him, heavily armored vehicles were advancing from the Donetsk area at night but were destroyed.

"Tanks broke out of Donetsk at night and in the morning. But our guys burned them all. The 10th Assault Brigade and the 36th Marine Brigade. The Azov Special Regiment helped. We managed to take 6 prisoners, now they are testifying".

According to the mayor, the advance also came from the Russian direction, along the coast of the Sea of ​​Azov.

"There's also an assault from Russia. Enemy plane targeted our guys, but they held their position and did not let the enemy pass. An enemy ship tried to approach the sea, but something stopped it and it turned around and left. But we mined all the necessary areas, so we are ready.

Now the whole city is working for our defenders. We try to help everyone we can and should", Boychenko stressed.
