Russian occupants capture North-Crimean Canal and Kakhovka hydropower plant

The main building of the North Crimean Canal and Kakhovka HPP were seized by the occupiers in the Kherson region

Suspilne reports referring to the mayor of Tavriisk, Mykola Rizak.

"Not have they just captured it, they hang the Russian flag on it. I personally saw artillery systems, tanks on the hydropower plant." 

Previously, on the morning of February 24th, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin addressed Russian nation with a speech, in which he informed them of the decision to start a military operation in the East of Ukraine. 

On February 21st Putin has recognized the sovereignty of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR," and signed the corresponding order.

Putin said that "L/DPR" are recognized in the borders of Donets'k and Luhans'k region of Ukraine, and confirmed it as a failure of Minsk agreements.
