Biden, Kuleba discuss tightening sanctions against Russia
U.S. President Joe Biden and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba at a meeting in Washington discussed the need for tightening sanctions against the Russian Federation.
In particular, Kuleba thanked the United States for political, macro-financial and military assistance to Ukraine amid aggressive actions of the Russian Federation, reports the Ukrainian MFA's website.
The Ukrainian minister praised Biden's leading role in mobilizing the global coalition to defend Ukraine and the world security order.
Kuleba stressed the importance of raising sanction pressure on Russia, as well as military and macro-financial support to Ukraine.
Оn February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on recognizing the independence of the so-called "Luhansk People's Republic" and "Donetsk People's Republic". Russia's Federation Council unanimously ratified treaties of friendship and mutual assistance, including military assistance, with the pseudo-republics of "DPR" and "LPR".
On February 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia recognized "DPR" and "LPR" within the borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
