Russia’s Federation Council allows Putin to use military force outside country

The upper house of the Russian parliament, the Federation Council, has unanimously approved Russian President Putin's request to use Russian troops abroad, an Ukrinform correspondent reports with reference to live broadcasting on Russian TV.

Putin's request to the Federation Council was submitted by Deputy Defense Minister Nikolay Pankov. The Russian deputy minister clarified that such an appeal was made in connection with the "situation in Donbas." Pankov accused Ukraine of aggravating the situation in Donbas, saying that under such conditions "Russia should take the people under its protection."

Earlier, Russia's Federation Council unanimously ratified treaties of friendship and mutual assistance, including military assistance, with the pseudo-republics of "DPR" and "LPR".

As reported, on February 21, the president of the Russian Federation signed decrees on recognizing the independence of the so-called "Luhansk People's Republic" and "Donetsk People's Republic".
