The topic of the next video conference of G7 leaders, scheduled for February 24, will be the situation around Ukraine.

This was announced by the representative of the German government Wolfgang Buchner, zn.ua reports.

"In particular, geopolitical issues will be discussed in connection with the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border," he told reporters in Berlin.

The online meeting will take place in preparation for the G7 summit, with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as the inviting party.

The G7 summit will take place in the Bavarian Alps in Ellmau on June 26-28. There was also the last summit chaired by Germany when Angela Merkel was Chancellor.

Amid escalation by the Russian Federation, the G7 finance ministers issued a collective appeal in support of Ukraine on 14 February.

"We emphasize our readiness to act swiftly and decisively to support the Ukrainian economy and support our ongoing efforts to urgently identify a diplomatic path to de-escalation. We are united in our determination to defend Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and economic and financial stability," it was said in the address.
