Rada appeals to the world community because of Russia’s attempt to recognize the so-called “LDNR”

The Verkhovna Rada approved an appeal to the UN, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe, the OSCE, NATO, governments, and parliaments of the world not to recognize the independence of self-proclaimed entities in the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The EP announced this, Rubryka reports.

The adoption of the relevant draft resolution №7045 was supported by a total of 326 deputies at the plenary session on Tuesday.

"The Verkhovna Rada urges not to recognize any decisions of the Russian Federation that will relate to the recognition of the independence of self-proclaimed entities in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions," the statement said.

The parliament also called on Russia to withdraw its forces and weapons from the border with Ukraine and withdraw them from the temporarily occupied territories, suspend military exercises in Ukraine's maritime waters and remove obstacles to international maritime trade.

In addition, Rada called on the world community to condemn the actions of the Russian Federation aimed at unjustified expansion of military aggression against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian parliament also asks international organizations, governments, and parliaments of foreign countries to increase sanctions pressure on Russia as an important element of comprehensive efforts to deter the aggressor state and preserve the European security architecture.

The Verkhovna Rada proposes to continue supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders and the need for a peaceful solution to the armed conflict provoked by the Russian Federation on the basis of norms and principles of international law using existing negotiation formats.
