The Japanese parliament has adopted a resolution expressing solidarity with Ukraine
The lower house of Japan's parliament passed a resolution Tuesday expressing solidarity with Ukraine.

The resolution of the House of Representatives of Japan states that Tokyo is "seriously concerned and always with the Ukrainian people, who hope for the stability of their country and region."
The deputies also called on the interested countries to restore stability in the areas around Ukraine as soon as possible through diplomacy and added that "any change in the status quo by force is unacceptable."
It is noted that the lower house "urges the government to use all diplomatic resources to do everything possible to reduce tensions in Ukraine and establish peace as soon as possible."
The resolution underlined Japan's position on consistent support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It is also noted that Japan supports and cooperates with the international community, including other G7 member countries, to promote democracy in Ukraine and promote peace and stability in the region.
According to the newspaper, the resolution was adopted against the background of escalating tensions between Western countries and Russia, which gathered about 100,000 troops on the border of Ukraine, and before that, in 2014, occupied the Ukrainian Crimea.
On January 21, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and US President Joseph Biden reportedly held a video summit to oppose unilateral attempts to change the status quo in the East and South China Seas and stressed the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
Regarding the situation around Ukraine, the leaders of the two countries agreed to work closely together to deter Russian aggression against Ukraine. Prime Minister Kishida has vowed to continue close coordination with the United States, other allies and partners, and the international community to take decisive action in response to any attack.
