The President of Poland awards Dzhemilev and three other Crimean Tatars state awards

By the decree of the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev and three other members of the Crimean Tatar national movement Ilmi Umerov, Shevket Kaibullaiev, and Sinaver Kadyrov were awarded high state awards of Poland.

The chairperson of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov wrote about it on Facebook.

It is noted that the representatives of the Crimean Tatar people were awarded "for outstanding achievements in the development of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation, the struggle for the rights of national minorities and support for independence movements in Eastern and Central Europe."

In particular, the Grand Cross of the Order "For Merits to the Republic of Poland" was awarded the national leader of the Crimean Tatar people, People's Deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev, Commander's Cross of the Order "For Merits to the Republic of Poland" was awarded to the Deputy Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov, the Officer's Cross of the Order " "For Merits to the Republic of Poland" was awarded to a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, editor of the newspaper Avdet, Shevket Kaibullaiev, and a veteran of the Crimean Tatar national movement, a political prisoner of the Soviet-era Sinaver Kadyrov.

Refat Chubarov congratulated the brothers on behalf of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and himself with the well-deserved award of state honors of the Republic of Poland.

He also thanked Polish President Andrzej Duda for his high and dignified assessment of Mustafa Dzhemilev's, Ilmi Umerov's, Shevket Kaibullaiev's, and Sinaver Kadyrov's many years of human rights work and struggle against the totalitarian regime of the USSR.

As reported, Poland has nominated the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.
