Pentagon states it’s ready to provide more assistance to Ukraine

The Pentagon is ready to provide more support to the Armed Forces to strengthen their defense capabilities but has no plans to deploy additional US troops on Ukrainian territory.

This was stated on Tuesday during a briefing at the Pentagon by US Defense Department spokesperson John Kirby, Ukrinform's correspondent reports.

According to him, the Pentagon continues to observe a large presence of Russian troops in the western part of Russia, around the eastern and northeastern borders of Ukraine.

"We will continue to monitor the situation on the ground, and if we need to make decisions to strengthen protection, we will do so," said a spokesperson for the US Department of Defense.

This, Kirby stressed, is a cause for concern, as it indicates the reluctance of Russians to de-escalate.

He noted that the United States "will continue to look for ways to help Ukraine protect itself," including by providing "additional security support."

He noted that instructors of the National Guard of Florida were currently on a rotating basis in Ukraine, providing advisory assistance to Ukrainian colleagues.

Kirby stressed that this mission would continue its work.

At the same time, he said, "there are currently no plans to deploy additional forces on a rotating basis in Ukraine, and [there is] no change in what the Florida National Guard is doing on the ground."
