In late December, Biden's administration approved an additional $200 million to provide for Ukraine's security

This was reported by CNN, citing 4 sources.

Earlier, the State Department discussed specific details about the additional security assistance that was authorized.

In this case, the Biden administration seems to have wanted to keep this new package in mind before this week's talks, two sources in Congress said.

The State Department also said that weapons had been delivered in the past few weeks and that assistance would continue, but declined to discuss details.

"I'm not going to delve into every tranche. The fact is, we've provided more security assistance to Ukraine over the past year than ever since 2014. These deliveries continue until the last few weeks, and more are planned for the coming weeks," the representative of the State Department told.

The security package allowed the transportation of most of the same defense equipment provided by the United States in the past, including small arms and ammunition, radios, medical equipment, spare parts, and other equipment.

The package was approved just weeks before the US-Russia talks began this week.

Note.

As of mid-December, the United States had provided more than $450 million in security assistance to Ukraine, a White House official told CNN at the time.

By the end of the year, the administration had delivered new Javelin missiles and launchers, Island-class patrol boats, first aid kits, radios, electronics, medical equipment, engines, generators, spare parts, and other equipment, the official said.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken told ABC on Sunday that the administration had continued to provide defense assistance to Ukraine "for the past few weeks" and that "if there is further Russian aggression against Ukraine, we will see even more."
