Zelenskyy signs a law on organ transplantation

President Volodymyr Zelenskнy signed the Law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regulating the Issue of Transplantation of Human Anatomical Materials" № 1967-IX, which the Verkhovna Rada adopted on December 16, 2021.

Rubryka reports, citing the press service of the Office of the President.

The document is designed to address the issue of payment for transplants.

The law stipulates that the state pays for all transplants, i.e. they are free for the patient.

It is also noted that the tariffs fully cover the costs of hospitals for such operations.

The selection of the donor-recipient pair will be carried out by the Unified State Transplant System.

It also addresses the possibility of providing lifelong consent or disapproval of donations through electronic resources.

The law shall enter into force on the day following the day of its publication, except for the paragraphs of the eleventh and twelfth subparagraph 7 of paragraph 4 of Section I, which shall enter into force on 1 December 2022.
