Kyiv’s private costume museum nominated for a prestigious award

Kyiv's museum has been nominated for a prestigious European award.

The nominees include the museums whose activities meet high European standards. In addition, according to the rules, the award is claimed by the museums that find the real needs of society and offer an extraordinary way to respond to them.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition was postponed, which led to increased competition among museums and an increase in the number of participants.

Of the more than 300 participants, 59 were nominated for European museums under the age of 4.

"The fact that the Victoria Museum was chosen as one of the nominees among the huge number of young creative museums in Europe is already a victory. Thanks to the participation of my museum in this award, we will be able to tell the whole of Europe about Ukraine and our history in May 2022, during the announcement of the winners in the Estonian city of Tartu. For me, it is very valuable that a private museum will represent the culture of Ukraine," said the collector, founder of the museum Viktoria Lysenko.

She opened the establishment in 2017.

The museum conducts lectures and tours, quests and workshops for adults, children, students, specialists in design and culture.

Through clothes, household items, and accessories of the pre-revolutionary period, the museum tells about the high cultural standards of the Ukrainian intelligentsia, restoring the lost historical links after the 1917 revolution.

EMYA is a prestigious European award founded in 1977 by Kenneth Hudson. Ukraine has twice participated in this award. The last time the Kyiv Museum represented Ukraine was at this professional competition in 2015.

Recently, the museum hosted a New Year's exhibition: 96 unusual toys on the Christmas tree introduced visitors to how fashion has changed and how to preserve its best traditions.
