Kuleba believes NATO won't agree with Russia's demands to halt eastward expansion
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is confident that NATO will not agree with Russia's demands to halt eastward expansion.
He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"I do not believe that the United States or NATO will agree to Russia's demand to stop eastward expansion or withdraw from Central Europe, as Russia demands. There is not only a demand that NATO not expand but there is also a demand to end NATO's military presence in NATO member states," Kuleba said.
He said he did not believe in such a development, as accepting such a demand in any form would be the greatest humiliation of the United States and NATO in the history of the Alliance.
As you know, on December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published "draft agreements" on the actual distribution of spheres of influence in Europe, which Moscow wants to sign with the North Atlantic Alliance and the United States.
In one point, Russia invites NATO countries to commit themselves to "excluding further NATO enlargement, including the accession of Ukraine and other states."
Talks between the United States and Russia to discuss the situation in Ukraine are scheduled for January 10.
