The first volunteer fire brigade, where nuns will serve, appeared in the village of Melnyky. They will go on calls, provide assistance to fellow villagers and monitor the fire safety of the monastery.
The press service of the State Emergency Service reports.
Holy Trinity Matron's Convent will serve as the headquarters of the fire brigade. The brigade consists of five volunteers: Abbess Ilaria, two novices, Larysa and Khrystyna, and two fire truck drivers.
The team has already been officially introduced to the community. The day before, they underwent a special training session, during which they were trained to practice exercises in combat deployment, water supply, and first aid to victims.
In addition to controlling the fire safety of the monastery, volunteer nuns will respond to emergencies. Under their protection are now residents of 7 villages and two settlements that are part of the Medvedivka united community.
The distance to the nearest fire department is about 20 kilometers, so to this day, there could be no question of a sense of security. From now on, everything will change.
