Ministry of Defense to reduce the list of conscript professions for women

The Ministry of Defense will reduce the previously expanded list of professions that must be registered in the military.

This was announced by the chairperson of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, Oleksandr Zavitnevych.

"We discussed this issue with Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov and agreed that the list will be revised downwards and with common sense, because there are professions that are not really needed by the Armed Forces and other military formations," Zavitnevych said.

He stressed that the initiative itself is right. "The country must know its reserves, we must be ready because the situation is binding," Zavitnevych added.

By its order, the Ministry of Defense has expanded the list of professions that require women to enlist in the military. In total, the list includes more than 100 professions. The order came into force on December 17.

Representatives of the professions included in the updated list between the ages of 18 and 60 should register for military service in 2022.
