More than 60% of Ukrainians see improvements in roads and technology in 2021, a survey says

In 2021, more than 60% of Ukrainians saw changes in roads and technology in Ukraine, but not in the fight against corruption and the resolution of the war in Donbas.

These are the results of a poll conducted by the "Rating" social group on December 16-18.

"Roads and digital technologies are the areas where Ukrainians have seen the greatest improvement in the last year. More than 60% of respondents have noted improvements in the state of roads in the last year. Positive developments in digital technologies in the public sector (Diia app) were noted by half of the respondents (28% couldn't evaluate)," the message says.

Regarding Ukraine's international image, 20% saw improvement (28% see no change, 40% see deterioration); road safety, 19% (34%, no change, 41%, deterioration), quality of care, 17% ( 31%, no change, 45%, deterioration), the quality of education, 12% (28%, no change, 40%, deterioration).

At the same time, about half of the respondents didn't see any changes during the year in the fight against corruption (37% reported deterioration) and the resolution of the war in Donbas (34% reported deterioration).

The majority also pointed to the lack of changes in the stability of the hryvnia exchange rate, freedom of speech, and democracy.

At the same time, the majority experienced a deterioration in the situation with utility tariffs (80%) and with prices for basic goods and medicines (90%).

About half of the respondents saw a deterioration in the ability to find a job (29%, no change, 11%, improvement) and the quality of housing and utility services (37%, no change, 9%, improvement).

14% said their confidence in the future had improved over the past year, for 30%, it had not changed, and for 53%, it had worsened.

According to the majority, the political and economic situation in Ukraine has deteriorated over the last year: 63% and 70% respectively.

The financial situation of the family didn't change for 40% during the year, for 50%, it worsened, only for 9%, it improved.

Sociologists note that despite skeptical responses, assessments of the political and economic situation have improved somewhat compared to December 2018. Residents of the capital and the youngest respondents are the most optimistic about the changes in all these fields.

The poll was conducted by the "Rating" social group on December 16-18, 2021 among 2,500 respondents aged 18 and older in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas. Survey method: CATI (telephone interviews using a computer). The error of representativeness of the study is not more than 2%.
