Zelenskyy asks three more countries to support Ukraine's future accession to the EU
During his visit to the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the prime ministers of Austria, Belgium, and Spain and asked for support for Ukraine's future accession to the EU.
This was reported in a communiqué of the President's Office.
During a meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Zelenskyy spoke about the security situation in eastern Ukraine and occupied Crimea.
"Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested that the Belgian Prime Minister consider supporting Ukraine's European aspirations by concluding a bilateral Declaration to support our country's European perspective," the text reads.
The President also raised the issue of the possible participation of Belgian businesses and investors in infrastructure and other projects in Ukraine.
During a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about Ukraine's recent European integration steps and also expressed expectations of Spain's support for Ukraine's European perspective at the bilateral level.
In addition, they talked about economic cooperation, in particular in the fields of energy, food production, and the development of infrastructure projects.
The President also raised his request to officially support Ukraine's future membership in the EU in a conversation with Austrian Chancellor Karl Negammer. The security situation and economic cooperation were also discussed.
