The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Twitter.
"I congratulate the Crimean Tatar people and entire Ukraine on their landmark victory. UNESCO has included the traditional Crimean Tatar ornament örnek in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity," the President said.
Zelenskyy called the inclusion of "örnek" in the UNESCO list of cultural heritage "a worthy recognition of the originality of the tile and the beauty of the cultural mosaic of Ukraine."
As reported, in July 2020, the Crimean Tatar ornament "örnek" as an element of the intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine was included in the preliminary UNESCO list for possible inclusion in the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The development of the nomination dossier "Örnek – Crimean Tatar Ornament" was a long-term initiative of the Crimean Tatar public organization Alem.
Consideration of including the Ukrainian nomination "Örnek" in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity within the 16th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee was scheduled for December 14.
