Patrol officers give stuffed toys to children on calls
In Khmelnytskyi, soft toys have been collected for patrol officers, with which they go on calls and give them to children in stressful situations.
This was reported by Suspilne.
"Now all the patrols are taking soft toys on calls. These are gifts for children who become participants or witnesses of traffic accidents, fights, or domestic quarrels. It is easier for police officers to find contact with children who are in a stressful situation," the statement reads.
According to Anna Strembitska, a spokesperson for the Khmelnytskyi Region Patrol Police Department, the collection of toys for the patrol was announced together with the Ploskyriv Cultural and Sports Center. The whole city and the police themselves joined the initiative. Three dry cleaners agreed to disinfect and clean soft toys for free.
According to senior police lieutenant Maksym Ryzhyi, he and his partner go on 10-15 calls per shift, during a third of which they meet frightened children. A small soft toy can soothe a child.
In Khmelnytskyi, going on calls with gifts will continue if it proves effective.
